For more information and news about healthcare services in the Champlain region visit the ChamplainHealthLine.  Click on Stroke Resources to search community resources for stroke survivors and their care partners. You can search for services available in the county where you live by selecting one of the tabs at the top of the page.  This database is maintained by the Champlain Community Care Access Centre.

PEER SUPPORT GROUPS

Peer support groups provide the opportunity to share ideas, information, and coping methods with others dealing with the experience of stroke. These groups often meet monthly and both stroke survivors and their care partners benefit from these groups.

  1. Renfrew County: the group meets monthly in Pembroke. Contact Alice Grenon at 613 732 9993 ext. 3220
  2. Ottawa: The Stroke Survivors Association has monthly meetings, Peer to Peer visits, and runs the Living With Stroke workshops in French and Enlgish.  For more information telephone 613 237 0650 or www.STROKESURVIVORS.CA
  3. Eastern Ontario Stroke Survivor Support Group: this group meets monthly in Cornwall on the first Wednesday of every month from 6:30-8 pm at the Riverdale Terrace Retirement Residence, 1200 Second St. West, Cornwall. Contact Deena Dufresne at 613-936-8784
  4.
