What is the AlphaFIM?
AlphaFIM is an instrument designed to assess the burden of care associated with a stroke patient in the acute care hospital setting. This tool can be useful for screening patients and assisting with discharge planning but is not intended to replace clinical judgment nor the interdisciplinary decision-making process.
Who is eligible for AlphaFIM Credentialing through the CRSN?
Credentialing through the CRSN is available to health care professionals who regularly work with stroke patients in an acute care hospital within the Champlain region.
Credentialing Information
- An AlphaFIM e-Learning module has been made available to Regional acute care sites. It can be accessed via the learning management system available to hospital employees.
- To be credentialed, health care professionals must complete the mandatory e-Learning module and pass a credentialing test with a mark of over 80%.
- Assessors are required to credential every two years. We strongly encourage review of the e-Learning module before attempting the test.

The CRSN will provide two lunch and learn sessions annually to support assessors in credentialing and administering the instrument. Please complete the e-Learning module before attending.
